Reps committee chairman denies link with Bareje faction
The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Mr. John Enoh, on Sunday denied that he had joined the Abubakar Baraje-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Enoh is from Cross River State, whose Governor, Mr. Liyel Imoke, belongs to the Old PDP faction led by the National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.
A newspaper (not The PUNCH) had reported that the lawmaker engaged in discussions with the Baraje faction in a bid to open its Cross River State branch.
But, Enoh denied the said meeting with the group, claiming that he was a loyal member of the Tukur-led PDP.
He also threatened to resort to the law courts to prove his case, describing the insinuation that he hobnobbed with Baraje as “malicious.”
Enoh’s lawyer, Mr. Ikechukwu Nwabufo, stated that linking Enoh with Baraje was an attempt to ruin his political career.
He noted, “While our client reserves the right and liberty to meet with and/
or interact with any person of his choice, which liberty is a fundamental human right guaranteed under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), he has never at any time or place hosted any meeting of persons known as the New PDP or of persons subscribing to the ideology or philosophy of the said New PDP.”
